A Heart - Teen Romance by Celia Chapter 1

The thick summer air was already heating up. Alec sneezed as the first rays of sunshine fell upon his skin.

"Alec!" Sylvia called him. "Wake up!"

Alec heard his mum's quick footsteps as she approached his room. Soon after, her fist knocked on the door.

"Honey?" Alec said.

The routine never failed to surprise him. Why was Sylvia shouting and then softly waking him up as she rapped at the door? Summer had come damp, and the air was barely breathable, despite his waking up so early. The thermometer raising as well as the barometer, naked was a relief.

He slowly stepped into the tub and felt the water cold against his skin. Cold baths were the best. He sat down and rested his head on the wall. The patterns were horrible. Bubbles formed around his nose, warning him it was time to come out and breath again, and he almost felt tempted to stay underneath the surface for a bit longer, but the painful feeling of oxygen depravation hurt his lungs too much, and he finally jumped up and struggled to breath.

He inhaled and exhaled slowly, counting his breaths in silence.

"Alec!!! Sylvia shouted.

Alec sighed and got up, the water drops sliding down his skin. There was a boy waiting in the hall, with his hands in his pockets and his eyes locked on the wall, seemingly lost in thought.

"Hey, you." Alec called. The boy turned around. The boy's expression filled with some emotion Alec didn't understand at first.

"I ..." The boy mumbled. "I'm Justin."

Justin was surprised by his bitter tone.

"Uh ... I was just ..." He muttered. "Oh! That's right. The books, I wanted to give you the books." Books?"

"Mr. Shepard was Alec's teacher.

"Yeah, I am." Justin said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

Alec cocked his head, trying to decipher the grin that had suddenly spread through Justin's face.

"Justin put his hand down.

"I'll show you around school tomorrow after lunch." Alec said. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to get dressed before I catch a cold." Justin said, as soon as Alec disappeared from sight. "That guy was hot." He kicked the floor with his right foot as he thought, and then shook his head and left.
